How long and how frequent are therapy visits?

Therapy is tailored to the needs of the individual. We have 30-minute and 45-minute sessions. Most often therapy is recommended once or twice a week. There are also instances when more intensive therapy may be beneficial, or when the patient may only need a few sessions over a longer period of time. The scope and duration of therapy will be discussed in consultation with your therapist during the initial visit.

Do you offer Teletherapy?

Yes! This has been a wonderful and convenient option for many of our families, and it provides an opportunity for carryover in your home. All you need is an internet connection and laptop with webcam, tablet, or phone. Call our office for more information.

What should I expect for my first visit?

At your first visit, we will conduct an evaluation that is typically 60 or 90-minutes, depending on the type of evaluation. This diagnostic session consists of collecting background information, discussing any concerns, conducting an assessment with both standardized and informal measures, and creating appropriate treatment goals. An evaluation report is provided within 1-2 weeks with key findings and a recommended Plan of Care.

Areas that we can assess include speech, language, voice, resonance, fine or gross motor, activities of daily living (ADLs), sensory processing, executive function, and feeding/swallowing. We look forward to partnering with you through this process!

To schedule an initial evaluation, please call 615-241-0122 or fill out our contact form. If you have had an evaluation completed at another clinic or school within the last 6 months, you may share it with our intake team. In some cases we can use it and then start with therapy.

Does Rise Up Therapies accept insurance?

Rise Up Therapies is a private pay practice to be able to serve families quickly with direct access to treatment and with flexibility to tailor therapy to the needs of each individual. We are also set up to provide the documentation needed if you would like to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement, and we have had families have success doing this.

If you plan to submit for reimbursement, it is recommended that you call your insurance company prior to your first visit to confirm your policy coverage. Most insurance policies will cover (partially or completely) initial evaluations even if the therapist is out of network. You will want to ask your insurance about any exclusions for speech or occupational therapy, as some insurance policies cover these therapies but only for individuals with autism, or when there is a congenital defect, as examples. In many instances therapy for developmental delays is not a covered benefit.

What are the benefits of private pay?

  • No wait lists – get immediate help

  • After-school spots available!!

  • Target all of your goals without any limitations placed by insurance

  • Relationships with local preschools – including onsite visit options

  • Ability to provide in home therapy

Are there opportunities that would help pay for therapy?

We do not want cost to be a barrier to your child receiving services! If insurance will not cover therapy for your child, there are a few grants / waivers that may be available to you. Click on them to learn more (will open in a new window). We have had families successfully get each of these grants so they can be a big help!
